Camyoga Diploma in Teaching Yoga 2012

Course Structure

The Camyoga teacher training diploma takes place over 12 weekends over 17 months and amounts to in excess of 400 hours – comprising a minimum of 200 contact, and 200 study hours.

Aims

The Camyoga Teacher Training School is now in its fifth year. During that time we have gained an international reputation for excellence in teaching, and graduates of a consistently high quality. We believe that the Camyoga diploma is amongst the most thorough Yoga Teaching qualifications in the world. Our aim is to bring the kind of excellence in Yoga Teaching that will help to carry this ancient science forward in the 21st century. We teach, preserve, and respect, all aspects of yoga in its traditional form, from its historical roots in India, whilst giving students an understanding of how modern yoga has developed in the west.

Faculty

Each faculty member has been carefully picked for their outstanding knowledge and teaching skill, and for their dedication to students’ learning. Each one of our faculty members is a leading expert at the forefront of their field.

Content

The course is broken down into 12 weekends, cosisting of four modules.

  • Anatomy & Physiology
    Anatomy fundamentals and the muscular skeletal system, biomechanics, body reading and the pathology of injuries.
  • Yoga fundamentals and techniques of teaching asana
    Asana teaching, alignment, postures, safe adjustments, classical pranayama, mudra, bandha, sequencing (vinyasa krama), the chakra system and the subtle body.
  • History and Philosophy
    Classical texts – the Upanisads, Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutras, modern Yoga plus a presentation of contemporary topics sich as the Psychology of Yoga

  • Professional Practice
    Structuring and planning classes and courses, self evaluation, teaching and presentation skills, yoga and access, teaching as a vocation, health and safety and the ethics of being a Yoga teacher

Each module is made up of a mixture of written and practical work.

Prerequisite

Successful applicants will usually have had a minimum of three years yoga practice with an experienced teacher, but we will also consider students with other relevant experience and an established home practice. An interest in the subject of Yoga beyond the practice of postures is considered essential.

All course dates are run at weekends (Sat and Sun only), from our dedicated studio in central Cambridge. Please see here for location details.

Certification

At the end of the course, successful graduates will receive:-

  • The Camyoga Diploma in Teaching Yoga
  • Eligibility for entry to the International Yoga Alliance RYT 200
  • Eligibility for entry to the UK REPs (Register of Exercise Professionals)

Cost

  • £2400 if paid in full in advance
  • In installments as a £970 deposit payable on acceptance, plus 17 monthly payments of £90 from October 2012-Feb 2013 making a total of £2500. In this instance you are obliged to enter a contractual agreement for all 17 payments.

Camyoga Foundation Course graduates are eligible for a £100 discount on these prices.

Course fees are non-refundable and include all course materials, but exclude accommodation, books from the reading list and First Aid Certification.

Teacher training students are eligible for concession rates at Camyoga during their training, but are under no obligation to attend Camyoga classes.

First Aid

To receive final certification you are required to complete a First Aid course. Camyoga runs these courses approximately twice a year at a cost of £50. You may also take the course with an external provider (the Emergency First Aid at Work Course)
